If you are planning to visit North West London, there are some must see sites that you must add to your itinerary. These range from the beautiful and imposing abbeys to the serene gardens and villages and the museums where time stands still amidst the historically inclined and the genius collections of art.

In the heart of the city is located the North West London Abbey. This building from as early as the 15th century has a gothic architecture with ceilings that are vaulted and the windows made of stained glass. This extraordinary building stands upon the Kingston buildings.

Also the Beckford Tower built by architect William Beckford is another very interesting place to visit. This building was erected in the year 1827 to be used as a banquet of the architect himself. He also intended the tower to be his library and as a house to retreat where he could spend his time studying his collection of rare art and books. This place is amazing for taking photos and you can actually climb the winding staircase and take a look across the city’s skyline.

Another very good site to visit while in North West London is the Bowood gardens in Calne. This piece of fine landscape was built by Capability Brown in the 18th century and it covers nearly 2000 acres of land. There are certain unique features like the serpentine lake, the hermit’s cave, the Doric Temple and the cascade. This ground is the perfect place for you and your family to pack some food and enjoy a picnic.

At the turning off from M4 and near the southern limit of Cotswold is the perfect little village of Castle Combe. It is the home to the Blanket Brothers, who, legends have it, gave the English dictionary a new word whilst they discovered the method to keep warm during the harsh cold nights of winter.

When your itinerary is set, then you must think of places to stay.
