While out in the wide world of web shopping, you may come across many different goth fashions and styles. Web shopping can be risky because it’s not always easy to tell what is or is not a good product. Large websites, such as Amazon, have a level of risk mitigation built into them, but what about the little guys? How do you shop independently while still getting something you want? Luckily when it comes to goth clothing,we’ve done a little research for you. Below are five products from independent vendors we’ve found that should suit your needs.
Number One: Goth Lace-Up Pants
The Goth scene evolved out of post-punk music and has only diversified thereafter. It’s fashion sense borrows from a wide range of historical sensibilities and combines them into a modern day fantasy. The resulting style is at once retro futuristic and deeply anachronistic, almost rooted in fairy tale. Lace-Up pants hearken back to a day before zippers when any number of elaborate buttons and stays were required to fasten and adjust clothing. While these pants may not be historically viable, their medieval sensibilities lend themselves well to Goth.
Number Two: Demonia Boots
Boots play an interesting role in fashion as they were designed to be simple and oriented towards dirty and/or intense labor. To that end, there is something inherently ironic about a highly fetishized boot with no working utility. But then again, it is not so out of place for Goths. In an expression of conflicting retro futuristic anachronisms, the fetishized boot serves the rest of the attire well. These boots by Demonia come in a variety of styles that should fit your proclivities within the genre.
Number Three: Lace Up Shirt
Much like their pants counterpart, the lace-up shirt comes from out of the Middle Ages and may even serve as a reminder of the Germanic pagans from which the genre accidentally takes some root.
Number Four: Scarlet Gown
A mishmash of conflicting periods and sensibilities, once again, this will appeal to the more medieval Goths out there. However, its eclectic style, interpreted from a modern lens, will serve well in a variety of contexts, from steam engines to pagan rituals.
And last but not least, Number Five: Joy Division Clothing
An iconic post punk band that has helped grow the Goth movement, their short lived career continues to influence and inspire. The very description of their music shaped the term ‘Goth.’ Pay homage to the modern side of things with a Joy Division graphic tee.
We hope that this brief guide of Goth clothing will direct you to something new and wonderful or even just reinforce what you already knew. If you share our passion for the Gothic, we’re certain that these will appeal to you. And if not, you hopefully didn’t lose out on much by reading.Write by Trending Shirts
