WHAT MADE PRINTING DEVELOP OVER THE YEARS
As new generations arrive, new trends and new customer behavior develop. Different businesses changed, including the printing industry.
Printing was a very valuable invention that initially helped us to read. But slowly, printing started to be used more commercially and in different industries. With more use, more problems came to the forefront, and people demanded solutions.
Thanks to technology, even printers have developed to a large extent with the help of it.
Today, we will talk about two such fascinating printers that have changed the way we perceive printing. They are UV printers and DTG printers.
WHAT IS A UV PRINTER?
UV printer uses ultraviolet radiations to print on flat surfaces. It works on various materials, including metal, stone, plastic, acrylic, leather, etc.
The ultraviolet radiations cure ink while the printing takes place. It is due to this property that UV printing can be done on a variety of materials.
Usually, UV printing is done on flat surfaces. However, innovations are making it possible to do the same on cylindrical surfaces as well.
BENEFITS OF USING UV PRINTER
Since the ink gets cured almost immediately while printing, the ink dots don’t get the chance of spreading on the substrate. This makes the printing more precise with high color saturation.
The ink does not get absorbed into the substrate. Instead, the ink predominantly stays hardened on the outer surface of the substrate.
Due to the quick drying of the ink and low absorption properties, the ink doesn’t get a chance to chemically react with the substrate. This ensures protection to the substrate’s material and opens up avenues for printing on different varieties of materials.
UV printing is also eco-friendly because it releases zero volatile organic compounds.
Because of the instant curing property, the production time is also reduced.
While printing with UV printers, it is not required to protect the surface by an over-laminate or placed under glass. Since no additional materials are needed and less ink is required to print; UV printers also lower printing costs.
Rapid drying of the ink also makes the ink smear-resistant.
UV printing provides a consistent print without a fading effect and provides a glossy look to the print aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.
WHAT IS A DTG PRINTER
DTG stands for Direct to garment. So as the name suggests, DTG printers are used to print on garments directly. They are used extensively nowadays to make customized garments, especially t-shirts for consumers.
This method of printing emerged in the 90s and commercially became available in 2005.
During DTG printing, the ink goes directly into the garments’ fibers, so it is not possible to feel or smear the ink when it is touched.
BENEFITS OF USING DTG PRINTER
DTG printing offers a wide range of colors to choose from. It can be used not only on white garments but also can be used on colored ones.
With the development of technology, DTG printing has become easy. Digital software can be used to create designs for the garments. It can be used to create detailed designs as per the customer’s needs.
Since it is water-based, DTG printing is eco-friendly.
Low set-up costs also make DTG printing an attractive option.
Using DTG printing, there can be both mass production and short production runs.
It also saves time as the printing takes place fast.Write by spiderman hoodie
